We are interested in the molecular biophysics of membrane proteins and membrane-mimetic systems. Our laboratory develops and uses a broad range of experimental methods for unravelling the physicochemical underpinnings of fundamental biological processes and render them amenable to quantitative analysis. Currently, our principal interests comprise:
(1) polymer-encapsulated lipid-bilayer nanodiscs for membrane biophysics,
(2) self-assembling fluorinated amphiphiles as mild membrane mimics, and
(3) structural dynamics and interactions of membrane proteins.
