Our research focusses on the physical chemistry of molecular and supramolecular self-assembly of membrane proteins and membrane mimics. Our laboratory combines a broad range of experimental methods to unravel the physical chemistry underlying important biological phenomena and render them amenable to quantitative scrutiny. As detailed on our Research page, our research interests comprise

(1) new membrane-mimetic lipid-bilayer nanodiscs on the basis of pH-responsive amphiphilic copolymers,

(2) novel fluorinated surfactants for membrane-protein research, and

(3) the folding, functions, and interactions of membrane proteins.
